(http://www.unep.org)UNEP is a very important partner to FEE in the promotion of sustainable development through environmental education.
UNEP and FEE initiated the co-operation in 1996 informing the public about eco-tourism with the Blue Flag as example and extending the principles of the Programme to non-European regions. With the support of UNEP, FEE was able to start the implementation of the Blue Flag Programme in the Caribbean and South East Asia. UNEP is participating in the International Blue Flag Jury.
In 2003, UNEP and FEE signed an official “Memorandum of Understanding” (MoU) stating that UNEP and FEE will collaborate on all relevant areas of common interest related to environmental education on prioritized issues and programmes.
Eco-Schools is in the MoU recognised as among UNEP’s preferred global model programmes for environmental education, management, sustainability, and certification at the international level
- United Nations World Tourism Organization
(http://www.world-tourism.org)UNWTO is a very important partner to FEE in the promotion of sustainable development through informing the public about eco-tourism with the Blue Flag as example and extending the principles of the Programme to non-European regions.
With the support of UNWTO, FEE was able to start the implementation of the Blue Flag Programme in the Caribbean and South East Asia. UNWTO is participating in the International Blue Flag Jury.FEE is an affiliate member of UNWTO. In 2007, the membership was enlarged with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between FEE and UNWTO. The MoU recognises the value of the tourism related programmes of FEE.
- United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
UNESCO is a very important partner to FEE in the promotion of sustainable development through environmental education. UNESCO is currently organizing the UN Decade on Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014), where FEE is an active player through the delivery of our five environmental education programmes.(http://www.unesco.org)
UNESCO and FEE has cooperated for various years through the participation of UNESCO in the International YRE Jury.
UNESCO and FEE is currently exploring a more formal connection through FEE seeking International NGO membership of UNESCO. - Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and FEE organised a successful joint environmental education conference on 31 January 2008 for authorities and NGOs from various countries in the Islamic World.(http://www.isesco.org.ma)
ISESCO and FEE have a common interest in further developing environmental education activities together, so a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations was signed on 15 December 2008.
