News from our partner IUCN: Sailing to Barcelona and the World Conservation Congress
(7.5.2008)
Sailing to Barcelona is an initiative of IUCN, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, which aims to provide a powerful and concerted push for the protection of our oceans, seas and coasts.
Sailing to Barcelona is an action-oriented initiative, where participants will deliver firm commitments and showcase best practices for the protection of marine and coastal biodiversity. Sailing boats, research vessels and environmentally-friendly ships will be the powerful tools used to visually communicate this action.
Sailing to Barcelona will be part of IUCN´s World Conservation Congress (5-14 October 2008, Barcelona, Spain); the largest and most diverse gathering to address the world’s pressing sustainable development challenges.
IUCN invites governments, organisations, companies and sailors passionate about our oceans, seas and coasts to take part in this unique initiative. For more information, please visit www.iucn.org/congress/sailing or contact: sailingtobarcelona@iucn.org.
