FEE General Assembly 15-16 June 2009

The FEE General Assembly 2009 was held in Liepaja, Latvia with representatives from 46 countries attending the event.

The most important discussions and decisions at the FEE General Assembly on 16 June were:

Approval of new Blue Flag bathing water quality criterion

Decision to introduce a new non-refundable membership application fee of €250.

Decision to slightly increase the annual FEE membership fee for affiliate member organisations and the annual programme levy for the LEAF and YRE programmes.

Decision that FEE General Assembly meetings will be held every second year after 2010 (alternating with regional meetings).

Confirmation of associate FEE membership for three new organisations and confirmation of affiliate FEE membership for three new organisations.

Confirmation of upgrading from associate to full FEE membership for nine organisations.

Approval of Heiko Crost as new honorary member of FEE.

Election of Tegryn Jones, Henny Kromhout and Michael Ierides as FEE Executive Board members 2009-2012.

Information about the next FEE General Assembly in June 2010 in Shenzhen, China.

On 16 June, there were furthermore break-out groups discussing internal procedures, communication and promotion and fundraising. 

On 15 June, the Members Forum event was organised to have time for further networking among FEE member organisation with various presentations from national member organisations of national environmental education programmes.

During the stay in Latvia, our host, FEE Latvia, furthermore organised various cultural events. On behalf of all participants at the FEE General Assembly, the FEE Secretariat would like to thank FEE Latvia for all their work on organising and hosting the FEE General Assembly 2009.
