Apply

National and international organisations/institutions wishing to apply to become a member of FEE and implement its programmes should contact the FEE Secretariat before beginning the application process. We will provide you with specific information regarding your application.

We also encourage you to familiarise yourself with the FEE Articles of Association (pdf format) and FEE Rules of Procedure (pdf format)  for detailed information on membership and the application process.

Associate member

In countries where there is not an existing FEE full or associate member, a suitable organisation must first become an associate member and carry out the task as national administrator of the FEE programme. To be eligible for membership, the organisation must have the following profile:

  • Non-governmental and non-profit organisation (NGO)
  • Nationwide organisation within their country
  • Capacity to run at least two FEE programmes
  • Capacity to secure sufficient funds to meet obligations of FEE membership (membership fee, running of programmes, programme levy costs, participation in FEE meetings, etc)
  • Capacity to secure active participation in FEE and FEE programmes
  • Adheres to the FEE environmental policy
  • Democratic and open to all regardless of gender, orientation, race, religion
  • Demonstrates that environmental education is one of its principal activities and that it will promote the activities, vision, mission and values of FEE
  • Has access to a properly equipped office
  • Has a daily contact person who knows about NGO activities and speaks English, as the working language of FEE is English

Ideally the organisation should have been in existence for at least three years. If there is no suitable organisation a new national organisation can be founded.

In addition to the application form, a completed application requires additional documents. Contact FEE to find out about your specific application requirements.

The application will be evaluated by the FEE Executive Board (meetings take place four times a year). If the application is accepted by the Board, the new organisation will achieve provisional membership; an onsite visit of the organization must be conducted by FEE before final membership can be granted.

A non-refundable application fee of €250 must be received before the application will be evaluated.

Download the FEE Articles of Association (pdf format) and FEE Rules of Procedure (pdf format) for more information.

In addition to the application form, a completed application includes a cooperation agreement with FEE clarifying the organisation/institution’s specific relationship to FEE.

Applications from organisations in countries with an existing FEE full or associate member must also be approved by the existing member organisation.
